Tasks & Project Tasks in SharePoint 2007 and SharePoint 2010

Tasks & Project Tasks in SharePoint 2007 and SharePoint 2010

While I am exploring SharePoint 2010, I found some lot changes in the Task List & Project Task List in SharePoint 2010. In Task List they have added new metadata named Predecessors where the user can select the flow of the tasks.

here Predecessors is nothing but a Lookup column with MultiSelect option enabled. I have tried the same thing in SharePoint 2007.

I have added a Lookup column with Multi select enabled. It looks like this…

As it is a lookup column, in the view we have link option to navigate to the corresponding Tasks.

In the SharePoint 2007 Project Tasks there is a view named “Project Tasks” where it shows the Task and Gantt chart. We don’t have the option to edit the tasks directly. But in SharePoint 2010 we can directly edit the task details.

Note: In 2007 it allows you to change the start date and Due date by moving the slider in Gantt chart. Other than that we need to use the Edit form to change the metadata values.

In 2010 very cool nice features are included. You will have the feel of working in Project Server. Below is the “Project Tasks” view.
